The University of Colorado Denver's Department of Architecture provides a Bachelor of Science in Architecture program at its downtown Denver location. This studio-focused curriculum merges analytical thinking with hands-on creation to develop innovative approaches to modern design challenges.
During the initial three years, students master design principles, their application in constructing buildings and urban spaces, and effective visual presentation techniques. Prior to their last year, participants can select either the Architectural Studies Track or the Architectural Design Track. Both pathways enable completion of a 4-studio professional Master of Architecture (MAarch) at CU Denver, leading to architectural careers. Beyond core architectural training, these tracks equip students for advanced studies and professions in related fields such as Digital Design (gaming and animation), Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, and Real Estate Development.
The Architectural Studies Track provides more flexibility, allowing students to tailor their final year studies according to personal interests and career goals. This pathway enables specialization in various architectural domains like history/theory, building technology, or digital visualization, among other possibilities.
Both educational routes qualify graduates for entry into accredited two-year (minimum) Master of Architecture programs in the U.S., Canada, or equivalent international institutions. Students can optimize advanced standing in graduate programs by strategically choosing electives in technical studies and professional practice that are commonly accepted by accredited architecture schools.
