The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) and Colorado School of Public Health (CSPH) jointly established the undergraduate Public Health program. Public health experts focus on safeguarding the environment, detecting disease origins in communities, managing epidemics, assessing economic effects of demographic shifts, designing health promotion strategies, and shaping health policy laws. This field integrates knowledge from various disciplines including social, behavioral, and natural sciences, each contributing distinct perspectives to public health initiatives.
BA program students specialize in combining social sciences with public health. Those earning a BA in Public Health gain preparation for advanced studies across multiple domains, from social/behavioral sciences to public health, law, social work, business, and health services research. This program particularly suits students aiming for careers in public health, health policy, or administration.
The public health field strives to preserve environmental health, pinpoint disease causes in populations, contain outbreaks, analyze demographic change's financial consequences, create health intervention programs, and formulate health policy laws. It incorporates expertise from diverse areas like social/behavioral sciences, healthcare professions, business, economics, data analysis, and biological sciences - all offering valuable viewpoints for multifaceted public health work.
