Geobiology and Astrobiology represent dynamic, fast-evolving interdisciplinary fields at CU-Boulder, where numerous faculty members conduct pioneering research bridging these disciplines. Geobiology examines the interactions between physical, chemical, and biological processes within natural systems. Investigations in this field may analyze contemporary environments or investigate Earth's historical co-evolution of planetary systems and life through significant geological and biological transitions. Astrobiology investigates life's relationship with cosmic evolution, studying its origins and the potential for extraterrestrial life within our solar system and throughout the universe.
