Scientists specializing in gravitational physics investigate the consequences of Einstein's general relativity theory, where gravity emerges from the warping of spacetime. This distortion governs how objects move through space when no other forces act upon them. Contemporary gravitational physics research encompasses numerical relativity applications, black hole behavior, gravitational wave origins, pivotal events in gravitational collapse, general relativity's initial value challenges, and astrophysical phenomena at relativistic speeds. Cutting-edge gravitational physics studies are presently underway at JILA.
