The department encourages close collaboration between students and professors to deliver a customized education in applied mathematics. Numerous PhD candidates have conducted groundbreaking research at Boulder's prestigious institutions like the National Center for Atmospheric Research, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Beyond local opportunities, students collaborate with renowned facilities including the National Renewable Energy Lab and Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, as well as other leading national research centers.
