The undergraduate program in women and gender studies, available as both a major and minor, provides an interdisciplinary approach to analyzing women, gender, and sexuality through the lenses of race, class, nationality, and ability. This adaptable yet challenging curriculum encourages students to investigate how gender and sexuality operate within various communities and across different cultural and historical settings. Key study areas encompass: cross-cultural and historical gender/sex systems, the intersection of gender and sexuality with culture, legal and policy matters concerning gender and sexuality, women's roles in social and cultural creation, global feminist movements, connections between feminist theory and diverse philosophical traditions, the politics and history of sexual identity, and queer theory.
