The Spanish department provides a Bachelor of Arts (BA) program with three specialization paths: language and literature, Spanish and Portuguese language and culture, or international Spanish for professional applications. The professional track incorporates business, economics, and mathematics coursework. Majors initially develop Spanish writing and speaking skills to engage in analytical discussions and compose critical papers. Subsequently, they advance to interpreting complex Spanish texts suitable for literary critique. Beyond language proficiency, the curriculum covers the evolution of Spanish and Spanish-American literature, introducing students to prominent Hispanic authors. The program also examines the societal and historical influences shaping various literary movements.
