The EBIO Departmental Honors program is designed for Ecology and Evolutionary Biology students who conduct independent research under faculty guidance, culminating in an Honors thesis that must be written and defended. Earning Latin Honors at graduation requires maintaining a strong GPA along with successful completion of both the written thesis and its oral defense. To assist Honors candidates, we provide a two-credit spring course (EBIO 4980) where students practice their thesis defense and gain valuable peer feedback. Many participants describe their Honors thesis as the most fulfilling academic achievement during their time at CU, offering a distinctive opportunity to deepen their education while enhancing critical thinking and communication skills.
