Students specialize in U.S., European, World, or Public History while gaining comprehensive training through minor field courses, language studies, or interdisciplinary graduate classes. All participate in at least one comparative seminar—frequently co-taught—examining transnational themes like gender, race, or urban development.
UC's history master's program provides rigorous postgraduate training, typically completed in two years through small graduate seminars and reading colloquia. MA candidates present research and conduct archival work domestically and internationally, often with departmental or university funding.
