The nonprofit and community leadership program (ORGL-NP) offers an interdisciplinary curriculum designed to equip students with essential knowledge and skills for working in and leading nonprofit groups, community initiatives, civil society organizations, charitable entities, NGOs, advocacy movements, or government agencies. This NP certification blends foundational studies in organizational leadership with specialized electives covering diverse aspects of nonprofit management, including leadership principles, performance evaluation, advocacy strategies, grant writing/fund development, volunteer coordination, donor relations, and effective fundraising communications.
This program aims to establish a solid foundation in nonprofit leadership as both an academic discipline and professional pathway.
The certification incorporates structured classroom instruction in leadership theory, nonprofit management, and program assessment, complemented by mandatory fieldwork with local organizations. Additional elective courses enable participants to refine leadership capabilities while investigating specialized subjects like gender studies, public health, or urban planning. Together, these educational components deliver both theoretical understanding and practical experience, preparing graduates for public sector careers or advanced studies in fields such as Public Administration or Community Psychology.
