The University of Cincinnati's Bachelor of Science in Special Education program offers comprehensive support for people with disabilities through both direct and indirect services. Professionals in this field deliver K-12 instruction, occupational rehabilitation training, independent living skills development, community case management, disability rights advocacy, educational consultation, and numerous other supports for individuals with disabilities and their families. Special education aims to improve quality of life through academic instruction, public education, and environmentally responsive service approaches.
Within the Language Arts and Math concentration, our graduates gain expertise in teaching fundamental grammar concepts, verb conjugation, composition skills, and adaptive literacy methods for students with severe cognitive impairments. Furthermore, they develop the ability to instruct mathematical concepts ranging from basic arithmetic to algebraic principles by designing curricula grounded in educational theory and proven instructional methodologies.
