The University of Cincinnati's Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education equips graduates with the credentials and expertise to teach students in grades 7-12 as certified educators. Our program provides hands-on training in urban and diverse classroom environments, employing evidence-based instructional methods to support every student's learning needs. Secondary education majors focus on one primary subject area: Integrated English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, or Physics.
The Integrated Social Studies certification enables graduates to instruct all social studies disciplines for Ohio's 7th through 12th grade students. The curriculum encompasses coursework in U.S. History, World History, Political Science, Economics, Geography, plus optional studies in Sociology and Psychology. Graduates will develop skills to design inquiry-based lessons that foster analytical thinking and promote collaborative discussions, empowering students to participate as engaged, knowledgeable members of society.
