The University of Cincinnati's Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education equips graduates to earn teaching licenses and become highly skilled educators for grades 7-12. Our program provides hands-on experience in diverse urban classrooms, employing evidence-based instructional methods to support every student's learning needs. Secondary education majors focus on one core subject area: Integrated English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, or Physics.
The Integrated English/Language Arts certification enables graduates to teach all English-related subjects in Ohio's 7-12 grade classrooms. The curriculum covers essential topics including critical literacy skills, reading strategies, writing instruction, classical and modern literature, and digital media literacy. Graduates will be equipped to design and deliver literacy lessons that honor cultural diversity and address current societal challenges.
