The University of Cincinnati's Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education equips graduates to earn teaching licenses and become highly skilled educators for grades 7-12. Our program provides hands-on experience in urban and diverse classroom environments, employing evidence-based instructional methods to support all students. Secondary education majors focus on one core subject area: Integrated English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, or Physics.
The integrated science track with an Earth and Space Sciences concentration qualifies graduates to teach all science subjects in Ohio's 7-12 classrooms. Choosing this emphasis involves coursework in geology, astronomy, meteorology, and oceanography, building expertise in teaching contemporary scientific theories about Earth's origins while addressing pressing global challenges like climate change. Earth and Space Science graduates learn to design lessons that foster scientific literacy, facilitate hands-on experiments, and guide students through collaborative engineering projects.
