The University of Cincinnati's Community Nutrition specialization within the Nutrition & Dietetics program offers comprehensive training in nutritional science, food studies, therapeutic nutrition, and health education. This nationally recognized program blends scientific knowledge with behavioral approaches, equipping students to become authorities on food's critical connection to wellness and disease prevention.
The Community Nutrition track offers specialized coursework focused on designing and implementing community health initiatives and wellness strategies. This Community Nutrition degree serves as the foundational requirement for pursuing dietitian certification. The program fulfills all academic standards for the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) established by ACEND, the accrediting body of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics. Graduates meet the educational prerequisites to apply for competitive dietetic internships and eventually qualify for the RDN credential after passing the national examination. Note that most states mandate additional licensing for RDN practitioners beyond the national certification.
