The One-Year Option enables Ohio Technical Center (OTC) graduates who finish programs of 600+ hours and earn industry-recognized credentials to receive technical credit toward an Associate of Technical Study (Type B) degree. This Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) program aims to establish a statewide system for granting technical credits, complementing existing agreements like Career-Technical Assurance Guides (CTAGs). Qualified students can receive 20-30 semester hours of block credit for approved OTC programs, applicable toward the 60-credit ATS degree.

Completed a 600+ clock hour program in business at an Ohio Technical Center
Hold an industry-recognized credential(s) approved by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Approved OTC programs: Barbering, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education
Meet the credentialing pathway requirements as determined by the applicable credit affirmation team. The list of currently approved pathways and credentialing requirements can be found on the Ohio Department of Higher Education's One-Year Option webpage.
Proof of English Ability Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Duolingo: 100 overall, 100 Production score, 100 Conversation
TOEFL: 79 iBT, 15 sub-score, 20 - writing, 20 - speaking
Cambridge: 176, recommended exam - C1 Advanced
IELTS: 6.5 overall, 5.5 sub-score, 6 - writing, 6 - speak
SAT-I: 480 evidenced-based reading & writing
