The Developmental Program offers a stimulating setting for scientific exploration, guidance, and education. Our researchers explore diverse subjects covering cognitive, emotional, and social growth. In cognitive studies, we concentrate on young children's numerical, spatial, and linguistic skills, alongside strategies to enhance learning results. Regarding social and emotional growth, we investigate how infants and children comprehend feelings, intentions, and ethics. Additional studies explore how children's surroundings influence their thinking and social interactions, and how physical experiences affect their learning processes. Beyond traditional behavioral research, our team employs varied techniques including economic behavior studies, movement analysis, brain imaging, visual tracking, neural activity measurements, and digital simulations. Furthermore, our researchers collaborate across academic fields, integrating multidisciplinary knowledge into their investigations. They also participate in specialized initiatives like the Science of Learning Center, Gesture and Sign Language Center, Education Committee, Spatial Intelligence Lab, Child Neuroscience Facility, and Language Acquisition Study. These varied approaches and partnerships offer thorough insights into mental functioning and developmental transformations.
