The CMB graduate program's primary goal is to educate future molecular and cellular biologists in cross-disciplinary scientific investigation, equipping students with adaptable skills for diverse career opportunities. Foundational coursework addresses key principles in cell and molecular biology, focusing on quantitative and mechanistic methods to analyze biological processes while fostering analytical reasoning and clear communication. The program's cornerstone remains hands-on laboratory research, where students formulate thesis projects, conduct novel studies, and contribute publishable findings to the scientific community. Over 25 faculty members create a dynamic, collaborative learning atmosphere that spans multiple disciplines. Participants master both classical molecular genetics techniques and innovative methodologies in genomics, systems biology, advanced imaging, and computational modeling, preparing them for professional paths in research institutions, biotechnology firms, science communication, policy development, and related sectors.
Applicants to our graduate and professional programs are expected to be enrolled in or to have completed a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university. Applicants from a three-year bachelor’s program will be given due consideration. Because all of our programs feature competitive admission, no particular academic degree or background will guarantee admission to one of our graduate divisions.
