Biology explores living systems across time, from ancient to modern. The College's faculty maintains that a solid foundation in biological sciences is crucial for comprehending human existence, our environment, and addressing critical global challenges while contributing to potential solutions. Our program provides diverse coursework spanning theoretical and applied biology, ranging from molecular genetics to ecosystem dynamics. As a premier research institution, the Biological Sciences Collegiate Division emphasizes scientific inquiry, investigation, and breakthrough discoveries. The program aims to equip students with: (1) knowledge of established biological principles and their experimental foundations, and (2) awareness of current knowledge gaps and research opportunities. Research Honors (BA/BS): The Biology Research Honors distinction recognizes exceptional students who demonstrate academic excellence in their major coursework and produce original, publication-quality research. Honors candidates will: (1) develop expertise in a specialized biological area, (2) design experiments, gather and statistically analyze original data while assessing its validity, (3) contextualize their findings within their discipline, (4) document their work in an Honors Thesis, and (5) publicly present and defend their research.
