The Department of Chemistry collaborates with the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BCMB) under the Division of Biological Sciences to provide a Bachelor of Science in Biological Chemistry. This joint initiative allows students to explore macromolecular chemistry and physics, enzyme and hormone mechanisms, cellular biology, biotechnology, and similar disciplines. The curriculum equips graduates for diverse interdisciplinary careers in biochemical and biophysical sciences. Participants are highly motivated to engage in faculty-led research at institutions like the Institute for Biophysical Dynamics. An accelerated four-year dual-degree option enables qualified students—demonstrating proficiency through placement tests—to simultaneously earn a B.S. in Biological Chemistry and an M.S. in Chemistry.
