The Committee on International Relations (CIR), the nation's pioneering graduate program in this field, distinguishes itself through its multidisciplinary examination of diverse global matters. Faculty members from across the Social Sciences Division, along with scholars from Chicago Booth School of Business, Harris School of Public Policy, Divinity School, and Law School, contribute their specialized knowledge. Their collective expertise spans numerous domains: theories of international relations, security analysis, global political economy, diplomatic history, U.S. foreign policy, human rights, international legal frameworks, development studies, and regional geopolitics. Undergraduate students interested in pursuing a combined MA degree must coordinate with their College advisor, Social Sciences Associate Dean Kelly Pollock, and a CIR preceptor during their third-year Autumn Quarter - these consultations form an essential part of the application procedure. Applicants should maintain a minimum 3.55 GPA, have substantially completed their general education requirements, and declared their major by this stage.
