Linguistics integrates undergraduate and graduate students in shared courses while fostering collaborative research with faculty. Faculty research focuses on diverse areas including verbal classifications, Native American languages, phonological evolution, syntactic and semantic structures, Bantu language morphology, and cultural sign systems. The department maintains specialized library resources and computing facilities. The Linguistics BA program aims to deliver comprehensive training in language science, covering fundamental linguistic disciplines while requiring substantial language study to complement theoretical coursework and deepen understanding of linguistic complexity. This curriculum equips students with broad linguistic proficiency and foundational knowledge for pursuing advanced studies in the field.
Students are required to have high school equivalent of US qualification.
Applicants are required to have score of 100 or higher on the Internet-Based TOEFL or 600 or higher on the Paper-Based TOEFL. Minimum required scores on the IELTS are an overall score of 7.0, with subs cores of 7.0 each. The minimum acceptable score on the PTE is 70
