The Global Studies undergraduate program leverages the expertise of College faculty across multiple disciplines, featuring cutting-edge research in internationally significant fields such as human rights, global relations, transnational studies, and regional expertise. This program appeals to students pursuing internationally oriented careers in academia, government, nonprofits, or business, while emphasizing the advantages of overseas study and intercultural experiences. Structured around three core themes—(1) global political economy, (2) cross-border dynamics, and (3) regional and cultural studies—the curriculum mandates at least one term abroad and foreign language proficiency. Global Studies students—ranked seventh nationally by Foreign Policy magazine—can also participate in a specialized European Union-focused term at UChicago's Paris Center.
Students are required to have high school equivalent of US qualification.
Applicants are required to have score of 100 or higher on the Internet-Based TOEFL or 600 or higher on the Paper-Based TOEFL. Minimum required scores on the IELTS are an overall score of 7.0, with subs cores of 7.0 each. The minimum acceptable score on the PTE is 70
