The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures (RLLT) provides multiple undergraduate programs culminating in a BA degree, specializing in French, Italian, or Spanish literature and culture. Students may also combine these with Catalan, Portuguese, Basque, or non-Romance languages from regions like the Iberian Peninsula, the Caribbean, and Latin America. These BA programs aim to deepen students' understanding of literary and cultural traditions while enhancing their language proficiency in one or more Romance languages. Prospective majors must consult with the French undergraduate advisor by the end of Spring Quarter in their third year to formally declare their major and complete necessary documentation. The department highly recommends working closely with the advisor to select a specialization and design a personalized academic plan. A signed major approval form must be submitted to the departmental office before the conclusion of Spring Quarter in the student's third year.
