Customized majors and minors enable students to design an academic path tailored to their specific educational and professional aspirations. Learners can propose an undergraduate major or minor not featured in the Undergraduate Catalog, provided it utilizes existing course offerings. Developing a personalized program demands careful preparation and coordination with the school chair overseeing individualized programs. School chairs reserve the authority to reject proposals that don't align with established guidelines. These customized programs may incorporate courses from multiple disciplines but must fulfill all the following conditions:
Completion of all General Education Program requirements is mandatory.
All minimum university standards for a bachelor's degree must be satisfied.
The student's proposal must include a signed acknowledgment accepting full responsibility for their program design and understanding that other institutions may not recognize UCM's individualized programs. After final approval, the Vice Provost's Office notifies the student, and the Registrar's Office maintains a record of the authorized program.
