The University of Central Missouri's Bachelor of Science in Biology, specializing in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, equips you for vital careers in ecological sciences. Investigate biological organization hierarchies and how species interact with their surroundings while adapting over generations. Through coursework, field studies, and laboratory work, you'll gain hands-on ecological experience. UCM ecology students learn in our 300-acre outdoor classroom at Pertle Springs Nature Preserve. You'll join undergraduate research teams working closely with professors through small classes, practical research initiatives, and continuous field investigations in both lab and natural settings. While completing your UCM Ecology and Evolutionary Biology degree, you'll examine plant and animal biodiversity, ecological systems, genetic principles, evolutionary processes, and biological data analysis techniques. After establishing this knowledge base, you'll apply your learning to combat global biodiversity decline and its impacts on evolutionary and ecological systems.
Our evolutionary and ecological courses train you in proper scientific techniques and equipment usage for comprehensive ecological research. You'll master the theories and methodologies needed to tackle complex ecological challenges facing wildlife and respond to increasing worldwide biodiversity threats. Field research in evolution and ecology forms a core part of our program. Upon graduation, you'll be fully equipped to participate in teams that develop, collect, and interpret ecological and evolutionary data.
