The MAT in Teacher Education with a focus on Science Education - Chemistry is a state-recognized initial certification program designed for aspiring Chemistry teachers for grades 6-12, as well as currently certified educators looking to expand their teaching qualifications.
This Master of Arts in Teaching program, approved by the state, adheres to Florida's Administrative Code (State Board of Education Rule 6A-5.066) and may undergo modifications. Participants should maintain regular communication with their academic advisors to stay updated about any adjustments made to meet evolving state standards.
Mathematics and Science Education candidates might qualify for the TEACH grant. The Chemistry Education specialization within the MAT program demands at least 39 post-baccalaureate credit hours. This secondary education track (grades 6-12) caters to both undergraduates without education backgrounds and certified teachers seeking additional subject area expertise.
