The Master of Arts in Music program offers advanced training for individuals with an existing bachelor's degree in music or equivalent qualification.

The Conducting Concentration caters to students aiming to specialize in conducting, culminating in conductor-led recital performances.

The Music Studies Concentration provides a broad approach, enabling students to explore diverse musical interests including performance, jazz studies, music education, and composition. This program aims to equip graduate students with advanced knowledge, skills, and qualifications to boost their professional development and career prospects.

The Music MA program consists of 30-34 credit hours beyond undergraduate studies, including 11 required music credits and 17 elective credits. Students can choose between thesis and non-thesis tracks, with the thesis option recommended for those considering doctoral studies.

Qualification Requirements

A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF or its equivalent from a foreign institution.

GPA of 3.0 or more (on a 4.0 maximum) in all work attempted while registered as an undergraduate student OR while registered as an upper-division undergraduate student (normally based on the last sixty attempted semester hours).

OR, a graduate degree, professional degree or equivalent from an accredited U.S. institution recognized by UCF or its equivalent from a foreign institution in a field related to the discipline of the program to which the student is applying.

All applicants must upload a scanned copy, front and back, of their official transcript/academic record issued by the Registrar to their applicant status portal for each bachelor's, master's, professional, or doctoral degree earned or in progress. Scanned copies of the official transcripts are used for initial review by the graduate program faculty. Unofficial transcripts, grade audits and screen shots are not acceptable. TOEFL iBT score of 80, IELTS band score of 6.5
