The Physics PhD program provides research options across multiple specialties including condensed matter physics, nanodevice physics, surface science, optics, complex systems, biophysics, atomic/molecular physics, physics education, and space sciences. This graduate program aims to establish comprehensive foundations in both experimental and theoretical physics.

Completion of the Physics doctoral degree requires 72 credit hours post-bachelor's, consisting of: six mandatory core courses (18 credits), thirteen electives (39 credits, potentially including research projects), and at least 15 dissertation credit hours within the total 72-hour requirement.
