The Aerospace Engineering PhD program provides students with the chance to achieve academic excellence in fundamental disciplines through rigorous coursework and research. Core focus areas include: Aerodynamics, Aerospace Systems Design, Astrodynamics and Space Applications, Dynamics and Control, Propulsion, and Structures and Materials.
This Doctor of Philosophy program is designed for individuals holding either a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely aligned Engineering discipline.
The PhD curriculum mandates a minimum of 72 credit hours post-bachelor's degree. This includes at least 15 Dissertation (EAS 7980) credits and allows for up to 12 combined credits in Directed Research (EAS 6918), Doctoral Research (EAS 7919), and/or Independent Study (EAS 6908) as part of an approved study plan. A minimum of 45 credit hours must comprise formal coursework, excluding Directed Research, Doctoral Research, and Independent Study components.
