Computational Media surrounds us in countless forms - from video games and interactive stories to data visualizations, mobile apps, VR experiences, social platforms, expressive robots, personalized health tools, and beyond. Developing these media forms, comprehending them deeply, and innovating new directions demands a fresh breed of interdisciplinary creators and thinkers. UC Santa Cruz's graduate programs in Computational Media were crafted specifically for such individuals. The M.S. program helps students expand their current skills into new domains, while the Ph.D. serves those already immersed in computational media who seek to pioneer transformative knowledge that redefines possibilities and understanding. The doctoral program offers an interdisciplinary framework and collaborative research environment to advance groundbreaking work.
Important: GRE scores are neither required nor reviewed for admission to either the Computational Media M.S. or Ph.D. programs.
To be considered for acceptance into any of our graduate programs, students usually have a Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or statistics & applied mathematics.
