The M.S. APEF is a one-year graduate program offering specialized analytical training to equip students for professional roles across various sectors including corporate business, banking (both international and domestic), consulting, government agencies, and nonprofit institutions.
The program emphasizes proficiency in fundamental economic theories, financial concepts, econometric methods, coding languages, and statistical software (R, Stata, Python). Participants enhance their ability to work with complex datasets through hands-on experience. This program meets the criteria for a quantitative economics certification and qualifies international students for STEM OPT extension opportunities.
For admission to the M.S. program in applied economics and finance, students typically have a bachelor's degree in economics. If applicants have a degree in another discipline, with rare exceptions, applicants must have completed courses in intermediate microeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, and economic statistics. Applicants must also have adequate preparation in mathematics, including at least two quarters of calculus.
