Biomolecular Engineering and Bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary initiative integrating knowledge from biology, mathematics, chemistry, computer science, and engineering to educate students and create solutions for critical challenges in biomedical and bio-industrial research. This program leverages the academic and research capabilities of the Biomolecular Engineering Department faculty along with collaborating departments.
Educational Approach
The Biomolecular Engineering track caters to students focusing on protein engineering, stem cell technology, and synthetic biology. It centers on crafting biomolecules (DNA, RNA, proteins) and cellular systems for specific applications, grounded in the principles of biochemistry and cellular biology.
The Bioinformatics specialization merges mathematical, computational, and engineering approaches to analyze and interpret biological data from advanced experiments, including genomic sequencing, microarray analyses, and proteomic studies.
