Academic Journey
UC Santa Cruz's sociology program offers a demanding yet adaptable curriculum designed to support students with varied professional aspirations. While providing foundational training in sociological theories and research methods, it allows significant customization for individual focus areas. The interdisciplinary dual major combining sociology with Latin American and Latino studies examines the shifting political, social, economic, and cultural landscapes affecting both Latin America and U.S. Latino populations. Additionally, through collaboration with the Everett Program, sociology offers a specialized track and minor in Global Information and Social Enterprise Studies (GISES). This service-oriented initiative prepares future leaders to address worldwide challenges by applying information technology and social entrepreneurship strategies to promote equitable development.
