The Global Studies program features a degree centered around modern and historical globalization trends. This undergraduate major stands out by focusing on transnational processes and connections that unite the world beyond conventional national borders. The curriculum begins with two introductory gateway courses, followed by an advanced core series covering global culture and ethics, political ideologies and world order, economic systems and development, and racial justice worldwide. Through elective options, students can explore additional global topics or specialize in a specific world region (Africa, the Middle East, South/Southeast Asia and the Pacific, East Asia, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America, or North America). Language proficiency is a key component, with three years of study required—reflecting the program's conviction that language skills are vital for understanding global and international affairs, whether through mastering one language or gaining insights from comparing two different linguistic perspectives.
