UCSB's Latin American and Iberian Studies Graduate Program provides cross-disciplinary education culminating in an MA degree. This curriculum caters to students seeking comprehensive understanding of the region through multiple humanities and social science perspectives. Program alumni frequently find employment in education, nonprofit sectors, or continue their studies in professional fields like business, law, or public health. Some graduates advance to PhD programs in conventional academic disciplines including anthropology, education, history, literature, or sociology, establishing scholarly careers. The program's flexible, interdisciplinary framework enables students to explore and cultivate specialized areas of interest.
Completion of the undergraduate major in Latin American and Iberian Studies is desirable but not necessary. Applicants from diverse intellectual backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
TOEFL scores 550 Paper-Based Test (PBT), 80 Internet-Based Test (IBT) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Overall Band score of 7 or higher (if applicable).
