The Geography Department provides graduate programs culminating in Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Students receive research-intensive education that fosters cross-disciplinary perspectives on global issues. This training equips graduates for diverse career paths including scientific and technological fields, public service, education, corporate sectors, as well as both theoretical and practical geographical applications, along with opportunities for pioneering research initiatives.
An undergraduate degree in geography is not required, and many of our students do not have prior degrees in geography. Applicants with strong academic backgrounds in any related field of study are encouraged to apply. The department requires an undergraduate grade-point average of 3.25 or higher
TOEFL scores 550 Paper-Based Test (PBT), 80 Internet-Based Test (IBT) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Overall Band score of 7 or higher (if applicable).
Applications are accepted for Fall only; the application deadline is December 15.
