The field of computer science has introduced countless groundbreaking technologies that have transformed modern living, including PCs, the worldwide web, digital social platforms, mobile devices, and touchscreen tablets among others. Emerging innovations like smart wearables and autonomous transportation systems continue to push boundaries. Our Computer Science Department's graduate curriculum equips students to become pioneers in this rapidly evolving field. The department provides an outstanding setting for academic exploration across all key computing domains. Through research initiatives, coursework, and specialized seminars, graduate candidates enjoy extensive collaboration with our distinguished faculty while pursuing interdisciplinary studies. The graduate curriculum focuses on three core computing pillars: theoretical foundations, system development, and practical applications. A defining feature of our program is the abundance of practical research experiences available to students. Graduate researchers can utilize dedicated facilities in areas including Bioinformatics, Cloud Technology, Computational Engineering, Computer System Design, CS Education, Data Analysis and AI, Information Systems, Theoretical Computer Science, User Interface Design, Intelligent Systems, Network Infrastructure, System Software, Language Development, Cybersecurity, Software Development, Mobile Networks, and Computer Vision.
Applicants must have a grade-point average of at least 3.0. Students who have completed an undergraduate or graduate education at an institution whose primary language of instruction is English may request an exception to this requirement. Applicants who have received a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a U.S. college or university are exempt from this requirement.
TOEFL scores 600 Paper-Based Test (PBT), 100 Internet-Based Test (IBT) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Overall Band score of 7 or higher (if applicable).
The Computer Science Department admits students to the graduate program only in fall quarter.
