Pursuing a Microbiology degree involves examining microorganisms' traits, behaviors, and relationships, along with their impacts on living systems and ecosystems. This discipline remains pivotal in advancing scientific breakthroughs and technologies that enhance human well-being while unraveling fundamental life processes. The Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) Department provides Bachelor of Science programs in four specializations: biochemistry-molecular biology, cellular and developmental biology, microbiology, and pharmacology. It also collaborates with the Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology Department to deliver an interdisciplinary biological sciences major, available as both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science options. Graduate studies lead to MA and PhD degrees, focusing on molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. A cross-departmental graduate program in biomolecular science and engineering is offered jointly with Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials, and Mechanical/Environmental Engineering departments. Numerous undergraduate courses are open for electives or to supplement degrees from other departments.
You are considered a freshman applicant if you have completed secondary school and have not enrolled at any college or university.
