This program is intended for students aiming to strengthen their undergraduate chemistry studies by building a solid foundation in materials behavior comprehension, their synthesis and processing methods, and their uses in contemporary technology. The combined B.S./M.S. in Materials program at UC Santa Barbara aims to provide undergraduate students with a more profound and extensive preparation than the Bachelor's program by itself. It enables high-achieving students to simultaneously work toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (College of Engineering majors) or Chemistry (Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry) alongside a Master of Science degree in Materials, completing requirements for both degrees within a five-year timeframe.
You are considered a freshman applicant if you have completed secondary school and have not enrolled at any college or university.
