As a Music Composition student in the College of Creative Studies, you'll receive mentorship to cultivate your distinctive compositional style while exploring subjects aligned with your passions and aspirations. The program establishes a solid groundwork in compositional methods through one-on-one lessons and specialized seminars tailored by faculty based on student demand, interests, and their professional creative pursuits. Beyond composition instruction, the curriculum encompasses music theory, analysis, counterpoint, music history, modern techniques, and orchestration. Throughout your education, you'll have opportunities to collaborate with performers, visual artists, choreographers, and filmmakers university-wide, join diverse musical groups, take interdisciplinary arts courses, pursue international study, and access Music Technology classes offered through CCS, the Music Department, and Media Arts and Technology program.
