The Global Studies program features a degree centered around both modern and historical globalization trends. This undergraduate major stands out by focusing on transnational processes and connections that unite the world beyond conventional national borders. Students begin with two introductory gateway courses, followed by an advanced core series covering global culture and ethics, political ideologies and world systems, economic development, and racial justice worldwide. Through elective options, you can explore additional global topics or specialize in a specific region (Africa, the Middle East, South/Southeast Asia and the Pacific, East Asia, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America, or North America) with courses from across the university.
Language proficiency is a key component of the Global Studies major, requiring three years of study. This aligns with the program's philosophy that language learning is fundamental to understanding global and international affairs—whether achieving fluency in one language or gaining comparative insights through two different linguistic perspectives.
You are considered a freshman applicant if you have completed secondary school and have not enrolled at any college or university.
