Marine Chemistry and Geochemistry investigate chemical and geological interactions within oceans, the earth's crust, and the atmosphere. This research often combines chemical principles with insights into physical, biological, and geological factors affecting natural environments. GEO program students in Earth, Oceans, and Planetary Sciences receive an advisor—who leads their three-member guidance committee—upon admission. Depending on their research focus and their advisor's specialization, students are placed in a specific academic track. While students can switch tracks during the year, they must ultimately select which departmental examination to complete.
