The Scripps Institution of Oceanography provides graduate programs in Oceanography, Marine Biology, and Earth Sciences. Its Applied Ocean Science field combines multiple disciplines, concentrating on using cutting-edge technology for ocean research and monitoring. AOS students conduct studies in areas like underwater acoustics, optical properties, electromagnetic fields, geological processes, marine ecosystems, sediment movement, coastal dynamics, ocean circulation patterns, and atmosphere-ocean exchanges. The program prioritizes solving critical scientific challenges through innovative technological solutions. This scientific focus is supported by related Applied Ocean Science initiatives in both the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) and Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) departments.
