San Diego State University (SDSU) and UC San Diego (UCSD) collaborate on a combined Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program. This joint doctoral initiative brings together faculty from SDSU's School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences within the College of Health and Human Services, along with UCSD's Division of Surgery (Otolaryngology) in their School of Medicine. The audiology program maintains accreditation through the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA).
Spanning four years, the AuD graduate program prepares students for clinical specialization, aligning with modern professional requirements that mandate a clinical doctorate for audiologist certification/licensure. The program welcomes applicants from diverse scientific disciplines, such as speech and hearing sciences, biological/physical sciences, engineering, psychology, nursing, or pre-medical studies.

Qualification Requirements
Successful applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or from a recognized university-level academic institution abroad and at least a B average (3.0 GPA) or its equivalent by the time they enroll. The university-wide minimum TOEFL score required for consideration for graduate admission is 64 for the Paper-delivered Test, and 85 for the internet based test (iBT).IELTS Academic Training exam score required for consideration for graduate admission is Band Score 7.
