The BS/MS program in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) offers a continuous Bachelor's/Master's degree pathway for UC San Diego undergraduate students within the MAE Department who have demonstrated excellent academic performance in both their major and overall coursework. This program is exclusively available to undergraduate students enrolled in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at UC San Diego. The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering provides graduate programs leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in engineering sciences, with specialization options including aerospace engineering, applied mechanics, applied ocean sciences, chemical engineering, computational science, engineering physics, and mechanical engineering. The department's teaching and research initiatives maintain interdisciplinary connections with various departments including Bioengineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, as well as with campus institutes such as the California Space Institute, Center for Magnetic Recording Research, Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials, Center for Molecular Genetics, Institute for Pure and Applied Physical Sciences, Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD Center for Energy and Combustion Research, Fusion Energy Research Program, and Institute for Nonlinear Science.
