The Computer Engineering program provides both Bachelor's (B.S.) and Master's (M.S.) degree options in Computer Engineering. Detailed criteria for each program are outlined further below. This major emphasizes foundational knowledge in computer science and electrical engineering, equipping graduates for roles in developing integrated systems that combine hardware, software, electronics, and communication technologies for applications in networking, personal computing, and embedded systems. Candidates must complete at least one academic year on campus and earn a minimum of 44 quarter units through graduate-level and upper-division undergraduate coursework relevant to the field. Those with equivalent prior coursework may request exemptions or alternative course substitutions. Customized study plans are available for students pursuing interdisciplinary research. Typically, students complete the M.S. in Computer Engineering within two years.
