The Biophysics Track equips students for professional paths or advanced studies in biophysics, bioengineering, biomaterials, biotechnology, or healthcare disciplines. Its curriculum meets medical school prerequisites. Students complete 95 lower division units (including 27 in Physics, 27 in Chemistry, 24 in Math, 13 in Biology, and 4 in Computer Science) plus at least 49 upper division units, for a combined 144 units. Compared to the Standard BS Physics track, this program substitutes 16 upper-division physics units with 13 biology units, 12 organic chemistry units, and two biochemistry courses. The track includes 36 CNAS breadth units, with the biology requirement fulfilled through core coursework. While the minimum requirement stands at 177 units, graduation eligibility requires completing at least 180 units. Those planning to exceed 216 units need approval from the associate dean.
