Welcome to the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at UCLA Samueli. I'm Xiaolin Zhong, serving as department chair and professor. As one of the premier Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering programs nationally and globally, our faculty and students pioneer groundbreaking research across diverse interdisciplinary fields - spanning spacecraft and rockets to robotics, medical advancements, cutting-edge materials, and sustainable energy solutions.
Our distinguished faculty includes 10 National Academy of Engineering members, representing the highest professional honor for U.S. engineers. An international student whose post-secondary education is completed outside of the U.S. is expected to hold a degree representing completion of at least four years of study with above average scholarship from a university or university-level institution.
IELTS Academic overall band score should be at least 7.0 is the minimum required.
TOEFL score on the paper and pencil test must be at least 560 or at least 87 on the internet-based test.
