UCLA's one-year Master of Engineering (MEng) program is a self-funded professional degree crafted to cultivate tomorrow's engineering leaders. This program meets the demands of both students and industries, specifically designed for those aiming for technical management roles that require advanced technical expertise combined with leadership acumen. The curriculum features an interdisciplinary technology focus, professional engineering development courses, and a culminating capstone project.

Autonomous systems function in intricate, unpredictable settings with significant independence and decision-making capabilities. These systems can perceive, adapt, and respond intelligently to unexpected environmental changes while maintaining self-awareness. We recognize their transformative potential for society.

This specialization combines faculty knowledge from Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Computer Science departments.

Coursework will emphasize cutting-edge developments in dynamic systems, control theory, machine learning, optimization techniques, and embedded cyber-physical systems. Additionally, it will investigate key autonomous technologies such as robotic systems, self-driving electric vehicles, intelligent transportation networks, and smart power grids.
